I had the lovely experience of painting my first wedding in October, 2024. I proposed the idea to my coworker as a gift for him and his soon-to-be wife, but in reality this was a gift for myself. Throughout my final year of college, I had been looking inward to see where I want my degree in illustration to take me. I knew I loved painting people as well as landscape, and I loved love. There is truly such a magical connection that a couple has with each other on their special day, it was something I wanted to capture. This wedding was going to be my chance to see if this was something I could do long term.
This wedding painting would be the catalyst of my dreams. I learned so much while at the wedding and connected with the other vendors there. While painting there was this sense of fulfillment that flowed through me. I entertained the guests while working to capture the love the couple held for each other. It was in that moment that I knew that this was what I was meant to do. To bring joy to the couple and the guests while I capture the connection that the couple shares. I even got to share this experience with my partner due to the generosity of the couple. The wedding was magical and the couple has told me that this remains their best gift since that night.
